NSP – National Scholarship Portal
NSP or the National Scholarship Portal is an initiative of MEIT ( Ministry of electronics and information technology ) The NSP Portal was designed with the aim of managing all the processing of scholarship schemes provided by the government of India. The process starts from scholarship applications to processing and finally sanctioning of various scholarship schemes to eligible students. The NSP portal helped in increasing transparency, accessibility, and made the process, accountable, and less time-consuming. For a lot of schemes DBT ( direct benefit transfer ) is used to directly send the benefit to the beneficiaries account and the Funds management of the scholarship schemes are done through the PFMS ( Public Fund management system ).
List of Scholarship Schemes offered on the National Scholarship Portal
On NSP, students can explore various scholarship schemes offered by the central govt, state govt. and the University Grants Commission. Students looking for the list of scholarship schemes can either visit the official national scholarship portal by following this link or they can go through the lists given below. These lists of scholarship schemes offered on the NSP are sourced from the official portal which is scholarships.gov.in.
The scholarship schemes offered on the portal are categorized under 3 main categories which are the central government scholarship schemes, State government scholarship schemes, and the UGC / AICTE Schemes. Under it, there are several departments that offer a variety of scholarship schemes as shown in the image below.

How to check eligibility for scholarship schemes?
Before applying for any scholarship scheme make sure to check the eligibility criteria for that specific scheme. To check the eligbility criteria of scholarship schemes online, follow the step by step process given below.
From the home page of the official portal select the services option and under it click on the scheme eligibility option as shown in the image below.
- Now fill in the details asked in the form and click on the check eligibility button as shown in the image below.
NSP login Process
- To login to the national scholarship portal, users need to visit the official portal first by following this link.
- Now click on the login button and under it select the year accordingly as shown in the image given below.
- Fill in your application id and password then simply click on the login button as shown in the image below.
- After validation of your provided details, you dashboard will open.
NSP Portal Registration
- Select the new registration option from the home page of the official National Scholarship Portal.
A new page will open where all the guidelines will be given, go through the guidelines and then select all 3 options given and click on the continue button as shown in the image below.
Now a fresh registration form page will open where you need to enter personal details, bank details, scheme details and applicants need to verify their phone number with otp. After filling in all the details asked in the form click on the register button.
Scholarship online Application process
- After successful registration, log in to your NSP dashboard.
- From the dashboard, the registered students will get the option to apply for the scholarship schemes offered by the government.
- Select your desired scholarship scheme and the form page for the same will appear on the screen.
- Fil all the details asked in the form and upload all the required documents then submit your application form.

Application for scholarship renewal
- To apply for renewal of your scholarship visit this link. It will redirect you to the renewal application page of the official NSP portal.
- Fill in your application id, password, and log in to your dashboard.
- From your NSP dashboard select the Renewal application option and the renewal form page will open.
- Fill in all the required details in the renewal form and submit it.
How to check Scheme-Wise Sanctioned List of Applicants processed for Scholarship
- Visit the URL ” scholarships.gov.in/fresh/onlineSanctionedList ” and fill in the required details like your academic year, application type, Ministry, Name, and all the details asked in the form. Users can check the image given below for reference.
After filling in all the details just click on the submit button and the Sanctioned List will appear on your screen.
